journey back to health!

My story
For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a doctor. In my young seven year-old mind, being a doctor
equaled being a magician. To be able to make humans feel better, to have the knowledge and the skills
to take away pain and suffering seemed incredible, truly magical. Both my father and my paternal grandmother, even though not doctors, were the local healers in their Romanian towns. They provided home remedies for colds and flu, injections, cared for dog bites, diagnosed fractures, and more. My father did it all. My grandmother, a school teacher, knew everybody in her village, and everybody knew her and went to her for advice. She was considered "The Wise One.” I observed them, and I naturally started applying all the knowledge and wisdom they taught me.
Being accepted into medical school was one of the best daysof my life. My dream of becoming one of them, one of the "healers", was finally coming true!

I graduated from Carol Davila University of Medicine in Bucharest in 1996, and completed my Internal
Medicine residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York in 2002. After a year of Chief Residency, and two more years of training in endocrinology, I graduated from the Endocrinology and Metabolism fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine and became a specialist in endocrine disorders in 2005. I am Board Certified in Endocrinology and Metabolism and have been a menopause and thyroid specialist,
serving the Greater Baltimore area since 2005.
Leaving my job for 14 years was the hardest and best decision I've ever made. Confronted with
pressures from many different directions—which most doctors now endure—I decided to forge my own
path and live my dream, to be the healer I always wanted to be, the way I envisioned it long ago. I
named my practice Ideal Endocrinology because I now have the chance to create what I consider the ideal
patient experience. In a broken health care system, the ideal care model has produced thousands of thriving medical practices all over the country, creating happy patients and happy doctors. None of the usual barriers between doctors and patients exist—no phone trees, sterile, cold buildings, or endless navigation of corporate grounds and parking lots. You will not be a number on an assembly line.

I am looking forward to knowing YOU as a human being. I am very skilled at interpreting lab results and prescribing medication, but my gift is looking at you as a whole human, making sense of the lab tests in the context of everything else happening to you. I am the questioner, the one who always asks "why,” who always wonders why things don't fit with the bigger picture. I want to get to the root of the problem, not just offer quick fixes.

Medication is only one of the tools I have in my tool box. I also use lifestyle interventions,
mindfulness, breathwork, journaling, various practices derived from Ayurvedic and Chinese Traditional Medicine.

If you are a spiritual seeker, a lover of the natural world, a dancer, if you were born in the sea, you have 11 toes, you like Greek Goddesses, are made of Jell-O, like to eat snow and have a unibrow, have salamanders coming out of your ears, are a poet at heart, a romantic and a dreamer, send me a line with your best poem, drawing, painting, song, picture and we shall connect!

I strongly believe that healing resides in the integration of the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual components of the human being. My interpretation of spirituality has nothing to do with organised religion, but rather the quest for meaning: meaning of life, meaning of health challenges and transitions.

If you desire a personalized medical experience with a holistic and integrative approach, somebody who will look at the complex interactions between body, mind and soul, if you want a partner in your journey to health- someone who will know you well, care deeply and have the knowledge and expertise to help you—
I may be the right doctor for you!
